How to install Magento in cPanel

How to install Magento

Step 1: Open cPanel Account

Login to your cPanel account from your web browser using your cPanel username and password.

Step 2: Navigate to Softaculous Apps Installer

Once you are on the cPanel dashboard, navigate to the “Softaculous Apps Installer’ by searching and then click the Softaculous icon as shown below:

Step 3: Locate Magento from Softaculous dashboard

You can install web-based software applications right from the Softaculous dashboard. The add-on library automates the process hence eliminating the need for manual installation. In Softaculous, Find Magento under the E-Commerce category on the left pane. Then click on ‘Install Now’ button on the right pane as shown below:

Step 4: Magento Software setup

  • On the next page, you will see a software setup page for customizing your Magento Installation. First, you need to select the software version that you want to install. Use the highest number on the drop down box so that you can have the latest release.


  • Now choose protocol, ‘https://www’ is the best because in almost all cases, you will need an SSL certificate to encrypt customers information on your web store.


  • Then choose a domain name from the list. If you are installing Magento on a sub-directory (e.g. www.leasepacket.com/magento), enter the name of the directory on the ‘In Directory’ field. Leave the CRON job settings intact as shown below:

  • On the site settings, enter your preferred admin path. This is the path for accessing the Magento administration area from your browser. For instance, if you want the admin path to be found on www.leasepacket.com/magento-admin, just enter the word ‘magento-admin’ in that field.

  • Enable test data by tick the check box ‘Sample Data’. Then, choose your desired username, password (use both number, symbols, lower and upper case characters for added security), names and email address and click on ‘Install’ button as shown below:
  • Softaculous will check the submitted data and final the installation


  • Finally, you can visit your Magento e-commerce website or visit the admin page to start adding products.
